Hiatus

11.20.2009 by Susan Getgood //

Things are getting a bit crazy. A good thing. But it does mean that something’s gotta give, and it looks like it is going to be the personal blog. I’ll try to post something every week, but truly, no promises.

Business is picking up a little bit THANK GOD.  I’ve started writing my book, Professional Blogging for Dummies and am writing for BlogHer’s Family Connections project, both of which impose regular deadlines. Blog with Integrity also consumes a fair amount of my time. Lots more to come on that front in 2010. I may have to move my office to a quieter room.

So if I  am not here, where can you find me? Definitely Marketing Roadmaps and BlogHer every week. Probably on Snapshot Chronicles Roadtrip as I endeavor to finish the chronicle of the Africa trip.

Live and in person? In January, I will be at Mommy Tech  Summit at CES (Las Vegas) and in February, at Blissdom (Nashville) and the ETC travel conference (Providence, RI).

December 4th –if you are local to Boston or Providence and like dogs, hope you can come to Ladies’ Dog Club dog show in Providence. I’ll be there all day!

Have a piece of Give-Thanks Pie

11.06.2009 by Susan Getgood //

iStock_pie“When you die, if you get a choice between going to regular heaven or pie heaven, choose pie heaven. It might be a trick, but if it’s not, mmmmmmmm, boy.” — Jack Handy

We love pie all year round. Apple. Cherry. Peach. Pecan. Blueberry. Oh Blueberry. But somehow pie in the fall has a special place in our hearts. Apple. Squash. Pecan. Pumpkin.  PIE!

I love to bake, so messing around with crust is more of a challenge than a nuisance. But, if you are in the Greater Boston area, and love pie but not making them, consider ordering your Thanksgiving pie from Pie in the Sky.

Pie in the Sky is an annual project of Community Servings, a local charity that provides  meals for the critically ill and their families. Pies are donated by local bakers, including some of the area’s best restaurants. Last year, the project raised $380,000.

Pies cost $25.00 each. The deadline for ordering is November 18th, and you can pick up your pie at one of 45 locations in the Greater Boston area on Wednesday November 25th.

Firefly Fan Girl Squee

10.27.2009 by Susan Getgood //

Sneak Peek clip from ABC-TV.

Monday’s episode of Nathan Fillion’s ABC-TV series Castle has the best Firefly fan girl (or boy) squee moment since Adam Baldwin’s rendition of Jaynestown (an easter egg on the Firefly DVDs):

Plus there’s a serious side dish of Buffy-love. All within the first few minutes, so if you don’t want to watch the whole show, you don’t have to, although I highly recommend it. And FYI, the sneak peek clip at the top of this post is NOT the best part.

Castle isn’t the most intellectually challenging crime drama. I can usually figure out “who done it” within the first few commercial breaks. What makes it such fun is the interplay among the characters, and I mean ALL the characters, including the small parts and guest stars. Castle is that rare beast, a true ensemble show.

The other benefit of the squee moment being at the start of the show? It is really easy to watch it over. And over. And over.

Like Firefly.
