One of the best things about blogging is that you “meet” people that you would never have the opportunity to meet in “real life.”

Over the course of working on the blogger outreach for HP’s Shrek photo contest, now in its home stretch, I met Melody from Slurping Life. (What a great name for a blog!)

Melody learned about the contest on Picture This, was kind enough to blog about it and tried, initially unsuccessfully, to enter it.

The folks at HP and Snapfish reached out to her and she patiently helped them troubleshoot the problems. You can read all about it on her blog.

The good news: she was finally able to successfully enter a picture in the My Little Ogre contest going on now. Please take a moment to check it out and vote.

This week’s theme in HP’s Shrek photo contest is “Green” and photo blogger friend Tracey Clark (Picture This) has an entry, so check it out and vote!

UPDATE:  I’ve noticed that some folks have been using their entry confirmation links for their friends and family to vote. This link will not work. Snapfish will send you a Forward to a Friend (FTAF) email like the one below that includes a copy of your picture, a view and vote button, and at the bottom (follow the arrow on the image below) a hyperlink which is the same URL as the vote button. This is the hyperlink you need to use on your blog or paste into emails if you do not forward the FTAF email directly.

If you do not get a Forward to a Friend email, contact Snapfish for help.

As I mentioned in my initial post, I occasionally help HP with blogger outreach. The most recent project was for the Capture Your Ever After photo contest.

Even though this blog is pretty new, and its readers are probably just me, the designer, my mother and my aunt, I wanted to share it with you.

Tied to the release of Shrek 3, the contest runs for 6 weeks. The first 5 weeks have themes, and the final week is a runoff among the winners of the previous weeks. There are more than 600 prizes per week, and a pretty awesome grand prize, so it is well worth your time to wade through your photo files. The winners are selected by viewer vote, and entrants are provided with a "forward to a friend" link to their photo to make it easy to tell their friends and family to vote for them.

The first two weeks are over (week 2 entries end at midnight tonight.) The third week for entries starts Friday May 25th. The theme is Fairy Tails — pets.Themes for the following weeks are Go Green and My Little Ogre (kids). The runoff follows, with the grand prize winner to be announced at the end of June.
