My Jeremy Renner Obsession

06.28.2012 by Susan Getgood //

Last month we saw the Avengers movie, and since then I have been battling with what might be considered an unhealthy obsession with Jeremy Renner. Seriously, I watched Mission Impossible Ghost Protocol for a second time purely to watch Renner, and I am planning to BUY The Hurt Locker (and films about war are not usually on my must-have list).

I just can’t get enough. In case you feel the same way, I have some goodies for you.

The trailer from the new Bourne film, The Bourne Legacy due out August 10th. And yes, I like Matt Damon too, but it is quite alright with me that the next installment is all Jeremy.

A link to a video of Renner singing New York State of Mind on the Jimmy Fallon show.

And a clip of Renner singing Stuck in the Middle with You with musician Brother Sal and friends.

You’re welcome.

Holiday Movies

12.29.2011 by Susan Getgood //

The December holiday season is pure gold for the entertainment industry.

From Christmas music, which I love,  to TV specials and holiday themed episodes of TV series, some of which are good like the Eureka episode I mentioned in my last post and Glee’s funny homage to Christmas specials past.

Let’s not forget the holiday movies, whether on TV or in the theater, brand new or holiday classics like Holiday Inn, filled with wonderful Irving Berlin songs, and one very questionable number, see if you can figure it out in the clip:

and Meet Me in St. Louis, starring Judy Garland, and featuring the now-holiday classic Have Yourself a Merry Little Christmas.

And films of more recent vintage like Elf, The Polar Express and this year’s blockbuster installment of the chipmunks.

Not to mention the big films released in December to capture the holiday audience. This year, we had updates of the Mission Impossible and Sherlock Holmes franchises. BTW Sherlock is good, but it really drags in places, and Douglas fell asleep at the end. Do with that information what you will.

But for me going forward, my holiday movie of choice will have to be Paul. We rented it on Christmas Day, and I loved it so much I bought a copy the very next day, braving Best Buy on Boxing Day no less.

Have a Happy New Year!

SciFi and Fantasy Lovers Friday

02.06.2009 by Susan Getgood //

The movie Coraline based on the Neil Gaiman book opens today. Here’s a trailer (spotted on Gaiman’s blog) featuring the author discussing fear of buttons. You’ll never look at a rag doll the same way again.

Trailer for the next season of Torchwood was released yesterday. I must admit, I sort of lost the plot toward the end of the last season. Got busy, got behind in watching and finally just gave up on the last fews eps. From the looks of this trailer though I might just give it a go again.

Need a laugh? Mosey on over to this post by actress Felicia Day on the phenomenon of hardy highland swains in romance novels. Do yourself a favor though. Put down the hot drinks and dangerous objects while reading or you might hurt yourself.

What we’re watching
For the first time in a long time, there are quite a few television shows that I like, and more down the pike that look good. Bones , Fringe, The Mentalist and Burn Notice were back in January, although Bones has been a tad weird, and not in a good way. Chuck and Life both returned this week with strong episodes, and of course there’s Battlestar Galactica. Blood on the Scales is the episode tonight, and it looks good. Very good.

Shows we’re looking forward to include Dollhouse, the new series from Joss Whedon with Eliza Dushku and Tahmoh Penikett, and Castle, starring Nathan Fillion. Dollhouse premieres next Friday February 13th on Fox, Castle on March 9th on ABC.
