New York, New York – Central Park Zoo

08.13.2010 by Susan Getgood //

My thoughts on the evolution of the BlogHer community and conference are coming sometime this weekend. In the meantime, please enjoy some photos from my visit to the Central Park Zoo last Sunday with good friend Celeste Lindell (Average Jane). We’re calling it the First (hopefully Annual) Self-Sponsored BlogHer Zoo Trip. Next year, San Diego!

Zoe, the juvenile snow leopard at the Central Park Zoo. A volunteer told us they keep the juvenile male Bo off exhibit and the adult female Chocolate (in an adjacent exhibit) won’t reappear until the weather cools down in the fall.

We think this is Ida the female polar bear.

Sea lion basking. And yawning.

Next year’s BlogHer destination is an excellent one for a Self-Sponsored BlogHer Zoo Trip! San Diego’s is one of the very best, and if you have some extra time and a car, drive up to Escondido and spend some time at the Wild Animal Park too. That’s one of my very favorite places, and it’s a unique one.

Great photos — care to share what mm lens you were toting?

Florinda — I love the San Diego Zoo and the Wild Animal Park. If I do make it to BlogHer next year, I’m thinking about bringing my family and staying the week after for our vacation so we can do the Wild Animal Park.

Paula — the lens that pretty much lives on my camera is a Tamron 18-270mm.When I travel (unless it is by car), I usually leave both my other lenses at home (a 70-300 Tamron and an 18-55 Canon) as most situations are covered by the 18-270. I am however saving up for a wide angle lens.
